Mardi Gras Bunco

Victoria and I are very involved with PWOC (Protestant Women of the Chapel). It is a group of Christian ladies who meet every Tuesday morning to sing praises to God and then break off into small groups to have Bible study. It is a wonderful time of fellowship and spending time with Christian women. Victoria meets with a group of high school homeschooled girls, and they have their own Bible study. Victoria LOVES it. We are so blessed to be a part of PWOC.

PWOC also does other fun activities. One is Bunco once a month. I LOVE Bunco and hosted it at our house on March 13. We had a great time! Victoria got to play, too, which is usually not allowed unless it happens to be an older child at the host home. :) We did a Mardi Gras theme. Victoria and I had a great time decorating the house. I made Jambalaya with French bread and a traditional King Cake for dessert. It was a great success. I had tables set up for 24 ladies. We were pleasantly packed in for a fun evening. (FYI, you can click on the pictures to see a larger shot.)

People started settling at their tables to begin the game. I had beads and bracelets for everyone to take home.

A little Mardi Gras decor. :)
Victoria started out at table 2. I began at the head table since I was hostess.

This would be Auguste's last Bunco. She and her husband are moving to Fort Bliss. We will miss her so much. She is the life of the party, and we got her a picture of us, and signed the mat around the photo.

We had to have a roll-off to determine a winner!

The gang!

At Bunco, the hostess buys gifts for the winners, which are pictured. I loved the prizes I found. I hope they liked them, too. (Just to clarify, everyone pays $5 to come to help with the cost the hostess puts into it.)

Next month's Bunco is a Super Hero Bunco. Fun! It is something I look forward to each month.

Biology 101

It has been way too long since I have written anything. I'm so sorry about that.

Victoria and I are loving Biology. We recently dissected an earthworm in which we got to see its crop, gizzard, stomach, intestines, and other fun things like that. The earthworm was larger than the dish we got to dissect it on so he hung off the edge. Yeah. Great. Victoria did enjoy dissecting it though. (I think.)

Next up was the crayfish. We joined another homeschooling family to dissect the crayfish. The Moellerings consist of a sophomore and an 8th grader. Both are taking Biology this year, so we moms decided to do the rest of our dissections together. So, we went to the Moellerings' home and enjoyed lunch together before we dug into the crayfish. :) We had a good time tearing into the crayfish and finding each part. The Moellerings' had a female, and Victoria's was a male. How neat is that? Up next...a perch and a frog. Yeehaw!
